The Coppa Italia quarterfinal match-up between Inter and AC Milan could be played on Tuesday January 26, according to an Italian media report today.
Calcio e Finanza explain that the quarterfinals of this season’s Coppa Italia are to be played across January 26, 27 and 28 and rumours suggest that the Derby della Madonnina could be contested on the first of these three dates.
Inter have made it to the quarterfinal stage of the competition for the seventh consecutive season with thanks to a win against Fiorentina after extra-time yesterday.
AC Milan meanwhile required penalties to get past Torino in the last 16.
The game was goalless after 120 minutes played at San Siro and Stefano Pioli’s side won the penalty shoot-out 5-4.
Inter and AC Milan have already met once this season with AC Milan coming out of that match in Serie A as 2-1 victors, and that win is currently what separates the two sides in the standings.
AC Milan are top with 40 points whilst Inter are in second place three points behind them.
