Inter loanee Lucien Agoume has heralded Antonio Conte as one of the greatest coaches in world football.
The 18-year-old is midway through a season-long loan at newly-promoted Spezia, where he has finally nailed down a place in Vincenzo Italiano’s starting XI after a slow start in Liguria.
In an interview Genova-based newspaper Il Secolo XIX, Agoume was asked about his relationship with Conte, who handed the midfielder his first-team debut for the Nerazzurri in December 2019.
“It came in a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, I was very nervous,” he remarked.
“For me, Conte is one of the best coaches in the world.
“In the future I see myself being at Inter.
“I hope to become an important player for the Nerazzurri.”
Agoume was then asked about life with Spezia, who picked up their first ever home win in Serie A on Monday when they defeated Sampdoria 2-1.
The French youngster played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Alberto Picco having made his third consecutive start in midfield.
“I have always felt good here, from day one,” Agoume insisted.
“At the beginning I struggled, but now I understand what the coach is asking of me.
Agoume, who is under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2023, then went on to add: “I’m calm, on the pitch I try to show what I can do.”
His fortunes at Spezia turning around in recent weeks will likely mean Inter will not cancel the loan deal, something they were reportedly considering not too long ago.
Earlier this week, Agoume was even reported to have attracted interest from Fiorentina, who are monitoring the youngster ahead of a possible summer move, but Inter unlikely to let him leave.
