Consistency. It’s one of the main characteristics required of any team looking to win the Scudetto and it remains one of the biggest issues facing Inter this season.
For last weekend’s match, Inter started well and looked composed, in control, and generated several good looks. But, as has been the issue all season for Antonio Conte’s squad, they weren’t able to maintain that level of play and gave up the equalizing goal late in the match.
While a draw doesn’t outright hurt the team- the only difference at the top of the table now being the head to head match against AC Milan earlier this season- it signifies there is a deeper issue with the team.
Romelu Lukaku recently stated he doesn’t know why the team struggles with consistency, but if Conte can’t figure it out, then Inter may as well wave the white flag on chasing their first Serie A title in a decade.
Upcoming Matches:
Inter vs Juventus, Sunday January 17th, Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, kickoff 20:45 CET
First Team Fitness:
Stefano Sensi: Going into the midweek Coppa Italia match against Fiorentina the oft injured Italian international was expected to get the nod to start alongside Christian Eriksen.
Unfortunately he experienced some calf tightness during the match warm-ups and the team opted not to risk his health for the match as he remained an unused substitute.
There hasn’t been any further reports of injury so he should be available for selection against Juventus, but likely will remain an unused substitute.
Danilo D’Ambrosio: Due to a painful challenge in stoppage time during last week’s loss to Sampdoria the Italian defender is set to miss an extended period of time.
The club confirmed a strain to his medial collateral ligament in this left knee and is likely to miss between four to five weeks.
While he has acted as cover in the backline this season, his presence will be missed as he has come up with a few clutch goals to help the club to victory
