Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta believes that Sunday’s Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus has the makings of an excellent match.

Inter welcome their bitter rivals to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A hoping to move seven points clear with victory, as they look for a first league win in three matches.

The clash sees Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte face his former club, whilst Juventus tactician Andrea Pirlo experiences his first Derby d’Italia as a coach.

Speaking on Sky Calcio Live earlier today, Costacurta was confident that the spectacle would live up to expectations and that there was enough quality throughout both teams to ensure a memorable encounter.

The ex-Italy international also pinpointed the prowess of the coaches as a potentially decisive factor in the match, despite their differing styles.

“It will be a clash between two teams who have to win, otherwise they could fall away in the title race,” Costacurta claimed.

“They are two beautiful teams with excellent players, and two coaches who take different approaches but who know and respect each other very much.

“All the conditions for a great game are there,” Costacurta concluded.

Nerazzurri coach Conte is seeking his first victory over Juventus on the Inter bench, as his side hope to close the gap on league leaders Milan.
