Alessandro Bastoni was lauded in the Italian media today for his performance during Inter’s 2-0 win over Juventus.
Goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella secured a comfortable victory in the Derby d’Italia for the Nerazzurri, their first success against their arch rivals in over four years.
Bastoni supplied the assist for Barella to double Inter’s lead with a splendid long-range pass, but Tuttosport was impressed with everything the centre-back did against Andrea Pirlo’s men.
“He double-locked the door to anyone that came towards him and also released Romelu Lukaku into open space for a chance then wasted by Lautaro Martinez,” they wrote, handing him a score of 7.5/10 in their player ratings.
Nicolo Barella took the highest rating at San Siro with 8/10, the same vote given to Antonio Conte for overseeing a performance that the Turin-based paper argued had sent a clear message to the rest of Inter’s Serie A title rivals.
Vidal was rated 7.5/10 on a par with Bastoni after opening the scoring against his former club, with Achraf Hakimi and Marcelo Brozovic receiving 7/10 just below the Chilean midfielder.
Lukaku was awarded 6.5/10 alongside Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, while Ashley Young scoring 6/10 alongside substitutes Roberto Gagliardini and Matteo Darmian.
Lautaro Martinez received the lowest rating at 5.5, with Tuttosport highlighting the several chances missed by the Argentine during the game.
Alexis Sanchez came on too late to receive a rating.
