Inter are keen to tie Alessandro Bastoni down to a new contract soon, according to an Italian media report today.
CalcioMercato.com claim that securing the centre-back’s long term future with the Nerazzurri is a priority for the club, albeit Bastoni is already contracted to Inter until 2023.
More than one top European club has shown an interest in the Italy international but Inter have no intention of letting him go and are prepared to give Bastoni a significant wage increase compared to the €1.5 million a year he currently earns.
It remains to be seen how much Inter’s economic problems, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, could delay the new deal but the club are said to have no concerns about Bastoni’s future.
CM’s report also hailed Bastoni as the best Italian defender around at the moment following his perfect performance in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia win over Juventus.
This season the 21-year-old has made 21 appearances, in which he has provided three assists for teammates.
