Nicolo Barella’s impressive stats with Inter this season have put him in an exclusive group including PSG star Kylian Mbappe and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as explained by the Italian media today.
As per Sky Sport Italia, Barella has provided five assists in Serie A this season, after crossing for Arturo Vidal to score the opening goal in Sunday’s Derby d’Italia win over Juventus.
This means he is one of only five players born after January 1 1997 who are playing in Europe’s so-called top five leagues to boast such a tally.
The others are Mbappe, Rashford, Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho and Brest defender Romain Perraud.
Barella has been in stellar form under Antonio Conte this season, having joined Inter in a deal worth around €40 million from Cagliari in the summer of 2019.
The 23-year-old, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 25 appearances in all competitions during the current campaign, in which he has scored two goals and provided a total of eight assists in just over 1900 minutes.
