Inter Confirmed Intention To Renew Lautaro Martinez’s Contract During Talks With Agents, Italian Media Report

Inter confirmed their intent to offer Lautaro Martinez a new contract during talks with the striker’s entourage today, according to a report in Italy tonight.

El Toro’s representatives were seen entering the Nerazzurri’s headquarters earlier, having managed to bring forward their trip to Milan – initially planned for February – after Argentina lifted travel restrictions early.

FcInterNews.it said Inter cannot finalise a deal with Beto Yaque and Rolando Zarate, Lautaro’s agents, until they have greater clarity regarding the future of the club, with owners Suning currently in talks with BC Partners over a possible takeover.

The parties did not discuss figures for the 23-year-old’s increased salary or the future of his €111 million release clause, which Inter might want to remove in any future contract.

Inter do not want Lautaro’s new wages to exceed €5 million net annually, plus add-ons, whereas the forward’s entourage would like a slightly higher figure.

In any case, the report suggested an agreement would be reached eventually given both parties want to find a deal.
