Inter could be set for a much-needed financial boost with former boss Luciano Spalletti linked with a return to Roma, as per a report in Italy today.
As per Rai Sport, Paulo Fonseca’s future is hanging in the balance in the capital and the Giallorossi, should they part ways with the Portuguese tactician, could look to bring Spalletti back to the club for what would be a third spell in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.
Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are both also said to be in the running but Spalletti appears to be the favourite as things stand.
Spalletti taking charge at Roma would be good news for Inter, who would no longer be required to pay him as per his contract until the end of this season.
Inter dismissed Spalletti in the summer of 2019 after two seasons in charge to make way for Antonio Conte’s arrival as head coach, but they have continued to pay the former Zenit St Petersburg boss with his contract not due to expire until June.
