Inter’s meeting with Lautaro Martinez’s agent this afternoon was productive, a leading Italian broadcaster reported tonight.
As per Sky Sport Italia, Lautaro has expressed his desire to stay with the Nerazzurri while Inter are preparing a contract extension for the 23-year-old, who is very much still liked by Barcelona after the La Liga giants tried to sign him last summer.
That said, the details of a potential new deal were not discussed today, as stated by one of Lautaro’s representatives outside Inter’s headquarters earlier.
Lautaro is under contract with Inter until 2023 and while he cannot benefit from the tax benefits that some teammates do, a salary increase is certainly deserved, even if the club’s current financial situation is far from rosy.
The former Racing Club forward, who joined the Nerazzurri back in 2018, has been a key player for Antonio Conte’s side this season with 25 appearances made across all competitions.
In that time he has scored 10 goals and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.
