MLS club FC Cincinnati are working on signing Atalanta captain and reported Inter target Papu Gomez, according to an Italian media report today.
As per TuttoMercatoWeb, FC Cincinnati have made a €7 million plus add-ons offer to the Bergamaschi for the Argentine attacker, who has been offered a three-year deal to move to the States.
A move to MLS is tempting for Gomez and the report claims that there could be developments on this front in the coming hours.
Gomez is widely expected to leave Atalanta in January after falling out with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini in November, but nobody so far has come close to matching their €10 million valuation.
Inter have been strongly linked with signing the 32-year-old but it has been reported that Atalanta would not like to reinforce a fellow Serie A club and prefer to sell Gomez abroad.
This season Gomez has made 16 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored five goals and provided four assists.
