Inter’s young Italian stars Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni are both worth double what the Nerazzurri paid to sign them, a report in Italy argued today.
Thursday’s print edition of Tuttosport highlighted how several of Inter’s key players have seen their values rocket upwards during Antonio Conte’s time in charge.
Barella joined the club in a deal worth around €40 million from Cagliari in 2019, but the Turin-based publication said he would now cost at least €80 million for any teams wishing to sign him in the summer.
Bastoni, whom Inter paid Atalanta €31 million to sign in 2017, does not even have a price tag, such is the Nerazzurri’s determination to keep him, but the paper argued €60 million would likely not be enough to secure a sale.
Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, who were signed on a free transfer and for €36 million respectively, have also seen their values increase at Inter, with both centre-backs now valued at around €50 million each.
Romelu Lukaku, who signed in a club record deal from Manchester United 18 months ago, Achraf Hakimi and Lautaro Martinez, meanwhile, all have values in the region of €80-100 million.
TS praised Conte for his ability to make certain players perform well beyond their expected capabilities; albeit they also highlighted the problems he has had with Christian Eriksen, whose value has certainly not increased since joining in a €20 million transfer from Tottenham.
