Inter are making progress towards agreeing contract extensions for Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez, as per a report in the Italian media.

Gazzetta dello Sport, via their print edition, stated today that the representatives of both players were at the Nerazzurri’s headquarters yesterday to continue talks.

There is a mutual desire from all parties to get contract renewals done, with Inter unable to focus on anything else at present with no money to spend in the January transfer window.

Bastoni and Lautaro are both likely to sign new deals but nothing will be finalised until nearer the summer due to the current cash constraints at the club.

Lautaro wants his annual salary increased to €7.5 million after tax, which would bring his wages in line with Inter’s top earners, but the Nerazzurri are unwilling to offer him more than €5 million.

The 23-year-old Argentine’s current contract of €2.5 million a year is clearly not adequate and the €111 million release clause is a hindrance, particularly for Inter who want it removed.

As far as Bastoni is concerned, Gazzetta reported that his current salary will be at least doubled as part of his new contract with the club.
