Inter had positive talks with Lautaro Martinez’s agents today in their quest to extend the striker’s contract, Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed tonight.
El Toro’s agents visited the Nerazzurri’s headquarters on Thursday so the parties could catch up after several weeks of not discussing the issue.
Di Marzio told viewers on Sky Sport Italia that the meeting went well but that an agreement for a new deal was not imminent.
The details of the prospective contract were not discussed today, as stated by one of Lautaro’s representatives earlier.
Lautaro is under contract with Inter until 2023 and while he cannot benefit from the tax benefits that some teammates do, a salary increase is certainly deserved, even if the club’s current financial situation is far from rosy.
The former Racing Club forward, who joined the Nerazzurri back in 2018, has been a key player for Antonio Conte’s side this season with 25 appearances made across all competitions.
In that time he has scored 10 goals and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.
