Leicester City have made an enquiry for Christian Eriksen but are being put off by the Inter midfielder’s wages, according to a report in the UK media.
The Telegraph claim that the 2015-16 Premier League champions asked about taking the Danish international on loan for the remainder of the season, but upon learning Eriksen earns in the region of £300,000 a week and that Inter were not willing to contribute to paying it, they have backed away.
Leicester are the latest in a long line of of clubs to have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, who Inter are believed to be desperately trying to offload during the January transfer window.
Eriksen has also been linked with a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur, as mentioned in the Telegraph’s report, while a potential move to Arsenal via a swap deal has also been mentioned in the media.
“Sources in Italy have claimed that Inter would demand Tottenham paid a fee and covered Eriksen’s wages to take him back on loan, while other clubs would only be required to pay his salary, but that is still currently too much for Leicester,” Matt Law wrote.
This season the former Ajax player has made 14 appearances across all competitions but he has failed to make any goal contributions.
