Atalanta have radically softened their position regarding the sale of club captain and Inter target Papu Gomez, a leading Italian broadcaster has reported tonight.
The Bergamo-based club were previously asking Gomez’s suitors for €10 million to agree a deal in January, with a veto for any clubs in Italy.
Sport Mediaset, as referenced by Passione Inter, now report however that they have changed their mind because they have not received any satisfactory offers for the 32-year-old.
Atalanta would now be prepared to let Gomez sign for another team in Serie A for free, and they would even be willing to pay 50% of his salary left for this season, provided that the club he joins are not a contender to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Inter are paying close attention to developments in Bergamo as they know Gomez would prefer a move to the Nerazzurri if possible.
Sevilla have also been linked with a move for Gomez but the forward is not interested in going to Spain, while MLS franchise FC Cincinnati are also said to be keen.
