Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie issued a rallying call as his side closed the gap at the top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 victory over Bologna yesterday.

The American was on the scoresheet as the Bianconeri secured victory at the Allianz Stadium and took advantage of slip ups by both AC Milan and Inter at the top.

Leaders Milan were left reeling by a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Atalanta, whilst Inter struggled to a goalless draw against Udinese on Saturday to allow Juventus to move to within seven points of the former and five of the latter.

In an interview with television station DAZN after the match, McKennie insisted that Juventus would continue to fight to retain the title and that the struggles of the Milanese clubs inspired his team to take advantage.

“We saw Inter and Milan drop points and know that it will be a fight until the end,” the 22-year-old claimed. “I’ve always been able to score and this is something I want to provide to help my teammates.”

McKennie netted Juventus’ second goal after Arthur had earlier broken the deadlock, as Andrea Pirlo’s side bounced back from defeat in the Derby d’Italia against Inter last time out.
