Lautaro Martinez’s goal drought is more worrying for Inter than strike partner Romelu Lukaku’s run of league games without a goal, an Italian newspaper report has argued today.
Corriere dello Sport highlight that neither the Argentine nor Belgian have scored in any of Inter’s last four games in Serie A following the goalless draw away to Udinese on Saturday.
While going so many league games without a goal is unprecedented for Lukaku in his time with Inter, Lautaro’s lack of goals of late is far more worrying.
The 23-year-old Argentine has scored in just two of Inter’s last 15 matches across all competitions and has missed several chances in games that he probably should have taken better.
In addition to Lautaro and Lukaku’s struggles in front of goal, Antonio Conte is also having to deal with Alexis Sanchez and the fact he is without a goal in two months.
The report goes on to conclude that Lukaku could be back among the goals tomorrow if history is anything to go by.
Inter are due to face AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and Lukaku has scored in each of his three matches against the Rossoneri so far in his Inter career.
