Inter’s hopes of signing Papu Gomez are over after Sevilla and Atalanta agreed a deal for the forward, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with a move for the 32-year-old in January in a bid to reinforce their attacking options.

However, they have been unable to move for Gomez properly due to their economic problems and Atalanta have always been adamant in any case that they wouldn’t sell him to a direct rival in Serie A.

Di Marzio tweeted a green tick this evening with both clubs tagged, suggesting everything is in place for Gomez to join the La Liga side, before subsequently tweeting to confirm that Gomez will fly to Seville tomorrow to complete his transfer.

No details have emerged yet about the agreement but a report in TuttoMercatoWeb tonight said the deal would involve a fee of €7.5 million.

Gomez would sign a three-and-a-half-year deal if the same report is correct, leaving Atalanta after six years in Bergamo and ending Antonio Conte’s hopes of recruiting the Argentine for Inter’s Serie A title push.
