West Ham United are in pole position to sign Manchester United midfielder and rumoured Inter target Jesse Lingard, according to a British media report today.
As per the Daily Mail, Hammers coach David Moyes hopes to be able to sign Lingard, who he worked with during his time as United boss, and a new striker before the end of the transfer window.
Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are both also keen on the England attacker, who has fallen out of favour at Manchester United this season, and would be open to taking him on loan.
Lingard was not in the United squad for their FA Cup match against Liverpool yesterday and he has been training with the players on the fringes at Old Trafford.
The report goes on to highlight that Lingard has also drawn links to Inter, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Nice and Sheffield United.
This season the 28-year-old has been limited to just three appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has failed to make any goal contributions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
