Inter proved they are a superior team to AC Milan in tonight’s dramatic Coppa Italia success, according to midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Inter fell behind to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal in the first half but managed to win the match 2-1 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and substitute Christian Eriksen, who fired in a trademark free kick of his to send Inter through to the next round of the competition.

The Nerazzurri will face either Juventus or SPAL in a two-legged semi-final in February.

“AC Milan are strong, but today we have shown that we are at their level and even better,” Barella remarked to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport following the full time whistle at San Siro tonight.

“We hope to be for a long time,” he added.

The Italian national team midfielder, who won Inter the penalty with which Lukaku brought Inter level, was then asked about the tension between him and AC Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers at the end of the match.

“These things happen on the pitch. It all changes once we get to the dressing room.”

In conclusion, the former Cagliari player was asked what Inter’s goals are to which he simply responded: “We want to beat everyone.”
