Christian Eriksen’s Inter teammates were absolutely overjoyed for the midfielder after he scored the winning goal in last night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against AC Milan, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri players celebrated the Danish international’s stoppage-time free-kick on the pitch at San Siro at the full-time whistle, but their festivities continued into the dressing room with ‘irrepressible’ happiness.
Eriksen has struggled to perform to expectations during his time with Inter but stepped up when needed on Tuesday night, booking Antonio Conte’s side a date with either Juvenus or SPAL in next month’s two-legged semi-finals.
Conte told reporters last night that everybody at the club wanted the best for Eriksen, describing the 28-year-old as ‘a good lad’ and assuring he wouldn’t leave before the end of January.
This season the 28-year-old, who has been strongly linked with a departure from the club this month, has made 15 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal.
