Inter are trying to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez, multiple reports in Italy have confirmed today.
Sportitalia and Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news earlier this afternoon, just when it seemed the Nerazzurri had given up on making any signings in January.
The story has now been back up by numerous other sources, such as Italian journalist and known Inter supporter Fabrizio Biasin.
Biasin took to Twitter and posted: “The attempted Sanchez-Dzeko exchange between Inter and Roma is real.
“Difficult, but real.”
In a follow-up tweet he added: “The proposal came from Roma.
“The deal remains difficult due to the difference in salary.
“But there is a possibility.”
FcInter1908.it also commented on the Dzeko-Sanchez rumours, saying Inter had confirmed to them that the talks were complicated but serious.
Alfredo Pedulla, meanwhile, said the Nerazzurri were considering the option after receiving the proposal from Roma this morning.
“Dzeko would be a perfect alternative to Romelu Lukaku, exactly what Antonio Conte has been looking for, and he would be of immediate use to Inter given Lukaku is suspended for Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus,” a report on his website read.
“Sanchez would accept a move to Roma as he is looking for more game time, although Inter’s owners would need to give the green light to a deal.”
Dzeko has been linked with Inter in recent weeks among other clubs and it now remains to be seen whether or not the two clubs can manage to come to some sort of agreement to swap the two players.
The 34-year-old has eight goals and two assists in 20 appearances this term whilst Sanchez has two goals and four assists in 19 outings this term.
