Inter assistant coach Christian Stellini has praised the performance of Christian Eriksen against Benevento when speaking to an Italian broadcaster immediately after the match.
Antonio Conte’s assistant told Italian broadcaster DAZN that he was very happy with the Dane identifying the former Tottenham players intelligence as the reason behind the great performance against Benevento.
“I liked his performance a great deal tonight, as he is adapting very well to this new role.
“It requires a lot of tactical intelligence, he is working hard all week and has done for some time, making the most of this opportunity to play great games like he did today.
“Eriksen is working very hard and particularly focused on the defensive movements, which he was not accustomed to do.
“The more he continuity he gets in this role the more he will improve game by game. He has done a great job and we are happy as he is a resource that we have worked a lot on and so has he.
“We’re holding on to him tight, as he is a top level player who can give a lot.”
Stellini was asked to comment if it isn’t better to keep Alexis Sanchez given his great performance tonight to which he refused to answer more than saying that the club is very happy with the Chilean.
“I don’t deal with the transfer market. All I can say is we are very happy with Alexis Sanchez, as we are with all our players.
“They are all involved in the search for our objectives and it all depends on their attitude to the work, which is excellent.”
Inter won the match 4-0 thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku as well as a goal from Lautaro Martinez with Improta breaking the deadlock with an owngoal following a Christian Eriksen set piece.
The Nerazzurri now sit in second place in the Serie A Standings with 44 points, just 2 shy of cross-town rival AC Milan on 46 who defeated Bologna away earlier today by 2-1.
