Inter Legend Christian Vieri: “Everything Is There For Nerazzurri To Win Scudetto”

Former Inter striker Christian Vieri sees no reason why the Nerazzurri cannot win the Serie A title this season.

Antonio Conte’s side sit in second place at the halfway stage of the season but remain just two points off league leaders AC Milan, as they chase a first Scudetto since 2010.

Ahead of the visit of newly promoted Benevento to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza today, Vieri believed that Inter possessed all the tools required to win the league and had one of the best coaches in Conte, in an interview with today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera.

“Inter have everything to win the title and the team is very strong, even if there is perhaps a slight dependence on [Romelu] Lukaku,” Vieri claimed.

“In the victory against Juventus I saw conviction, quality on the ball and great organisation, dominating the game from the first minute until the last.

“Clubs like this are obligated to play to win and be worthy of playing in a stadium like the San Siro. Conte is a great coach and one of the best coaches in the world.”

With Inter eliminated from European competition following their exit from the Champions League at the Group Stage, Vieri insisted that this was not a positive factor in their charge for the Scudetto.

“It is never good to go out of the cups and a great team must be ready to play 56 or 57 matches in a season. It is the reason why deep squads are built and assembled.”

Former Italy international Vieri represented Inter from 1999 until 2005 and netted 123 goals in 190 appearances for the club.
