Inter have ended their interest in signing Fluminense’s highly-rated forward Marcos Paulo, according to an Italian media report today.

As per CalcioMercato.com, the Nerazzurri have made a clear decision to withdraw from the race for the Brazilian-born Portuguese player, who turned 20 yesterday, having made a serious attempt to sign Marcos Paulo in recent weeks.

The player’s contract with Fluminense is due to expire at the end of this season but after a first offer, Inter opted not to pursue a bidding war with other clubs.

Atletico Madrid will therefore look to wrap up a deal to bring Marcos Paulo in ahead of next season, with Parma also linked to the forward in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has scored three goals and provided three assists in 26 appearances for Fluminense in all competitions this season.

Marcos Paulo has made three appearances for Portugal’s under-18 side, scoring three goals, as well as four for their under-19s.
