Inter will win the Serie A title this season if Juventus knock them out of the Coppa Italia, according to the Nerazzurri’s legendary former goalkeeper Walter Zenga.

Antonio Conte’s side host the Bianconeri for tonight’s semi-final first leg at San Siro, and having beaten Juventus in the league two weeks ago there is a belief Inter can do it again to reach the final, where they would face Atalanta or Napoli.

However, elimination from the tournament may not necessarily be a bad thing with Zenga suggesting it could have positive repercussions on their bid to reclaim the Scudetto.

“The Coppa Italia is an important objective because Inter are out of Europe,” the Uomo Ragno argued on Italian football talk show Tiki Taka last night.

“Conte’s team can get through to the next round but if they go out, for me they will win the league.”

Inter last won the Serie A title back in the 2009-10 season as part of their historic treble campaign and finished one point off top spot last season.

This season they have gone head to head with city rivals AC Milan from pretty much day one, with the Rossoneri currently boasting a two-point advantage at the top of the table after 20 games.
