Inter’s owners Suning ‘frightened’ BC Partners with their valuation for the club, according to a report in Italy’s media today.
The parties were in exclusive talks until last Friday when negotiations ended without a deal.
Il Giorno’s print edition claimed Suning asked for between €900 million and €1 billion in order to sell Inter, where they have been majority shareholders since 2016.
BC Partners were unwilling to invest that amount of money and duly ended their interest in taking over the Nerazzurri.
The report went on to say American-based fund Arctos Sports Partners could be the new leading contender to buy into Inter.
Arctos are ‘serious’ about buying a stake in the club and are determined to step up their pursuit in the coming days.
Suning are known to need an injection of capital in the short term at Inter, due to financial difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic and fresh restrictions from the Chinese government.
