Inter need the real Romelu Lukaku to turn up at the Allianz Stadium tomorrow if they want to reach the Coppa Italia final, according to an Italian newspaper report today.
Corriere dello Sport highlighted that Lukaku has never scored against Juventus in four previous games, three with the Nerazzurri and one with Manchester United in the Champions League back in 2018.
What’s more, the Belgian has only beaten them once in those four meetings too, when Antonio Conte’s side got the better of the Bianconeri 2-0 in Serie A last month.
It goes without saying, the report argued, that if Inter wish to overturn their 2-1 deficit in the second leg, Lukaku must improve in front of goal against the Old Lady.
The Rome-based publication also questioned Lukaku’s form since the turn of the year, with the 27-year-old scoring in five of his first nine games in all competitions in 2021.
While those numbers would be satisfactory for most strikers, they suggested, Inter have become accustomed to Lukaku scoring more regularly, with the Belgian netting in 15 games out of 18 before December this season.
