Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic covered more ground than any other player in the most recent round of Serie A action, according to statistics published today.
The Croatian international ran a total distance of 13.309km during the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win away to Fiorentina on Friday, as per Serie A’s official data partner Netco Sports.
Genoa’s Milan Badelj and Napoli’s Eljif Elmas were second and third on the list, running 13.110km and 12.423km respectively.
Brozovic also ranked second in the league for completed passes on matchday 21, with his tally of 88 putting him only behind Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic.
The 28-year-old has consistently covered a lot of ground in matches in recent seasons since his role change from attacking midfielder to deep-lying playmaker.
Antonio Conte has used Brozovic in 26 of Inter’s 29 matches in all competitions this season, with the midfielder scoring once and providing seven assists.
The Inter boss will be hoping Brozovic does not pick up a yellow card in Sunday’s next league match at home to Lazio, as this would rule him out of the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan on February 21 through suspension.
Brozovic is again expected to start for Inter in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Juventus.
