Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is on Manchester City’s radar as they look to find themselves a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, according to a British media report today.
Aguero’s contract with the Premier League leaders is due to expire at the end of this season and the Argentina international is close to reaching an agreement to join Barcelona, where Lionel Messi is pushing to sign him.
As per The Athletic, City coach Pep Guardiola is a great admirer of Lukaku and wants him to replace Aguero at the Etihad Stadium.
But it will not be at all easy to prize Lukaku away from Inter given his importance to the Nerazzurri, who forked out a club record fee of €65 million to bring him in from Manchester United at the request of Antonio Conte in 2019.
Lukaku is not the only player that City have in mind when it comes to replacing their record all-time top goal-scorer, with the report claiming that Southampton’s Danny Ings is also on their list.
