Antonio Conte was provoked throughout Inter’s draw at Juventus last night, according to a report in the Italian media.
As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri boss was embroiled in a bitter spat with his former president Andrea Agnelli during the Derby d’Italia at the Allianz Stadium.
Conte showed a middle finger to the Juventus bench as he walked off at half-time, with sources at Inter explaining this was because they had been insulting him constantly up to that point.
Agnelli responded at full-time by calling Conte a ‘d***h***’, which those at Juventus said was a response to ‘a dreadful gesture’ in reference to the Inter coach’s middle finger.
Conte was also involved in an argument with Leonardo Bonucci during last night’s goalless draw, with the Juve defender said to be ‘among the most active in lighting the fuse’ on the touchline.
After Inter protested for a collision between Lautaro Martinez and Federico Bernardeschi, the Rome-based publication said, Bonucci had the cheek to say to Conte: ‘You must respect the referee.’
The spat between Conte and Agnelli was the main talking point in Italy’s media this morning, however, with CdS arguing their rivalry was a bomb waiting to explode after Conte’s acrimonious departure from Juventus in 2014.
They also suggested it was time to discard the idea of Conte being a Juventino stood in Inter’s dugout, because it seems he has no love left for those at his former club.
Inter were eliminated from the Coppa Italia in Turin after a goalless draw in Tuesday’s semi-final second leg secured a 2-1 aggregate victory for Andrea Pirlo’s side.
