Inter will reward Nicolo Barella for his magnificent season with a new contract in the coming weeks, according to an Italian media report today.

As per FCInterNews.it, the Nerazzurri are already in talks with his agent Alessandro Beltrami over an improved deal, with sporting director Piero Ausilio having assured Barella he would soon have his wages increased.

Beltrami is waiting on a call from Inter to finalise the new contract, which will in all likelihood extend Barella’s stay in Milan by one more year, albeit this won’t happen until the club have sorted their well-known corporate issues.

Barella is under contract with Inter until 2024 while earning €2.4 million a year, but his salary is set to increase as recognition of his importance to Antonio Conte’s side.

The report said Inter considered the €37 million it cost them to sign Barella from Cagliari in 2019 as a great deal and given his performances in the time since, the 24-year-old’s value has absolutely skyrocketed.

Barella has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has scored three goals and provided 10 assists.

Inter are also planning contract extensions for Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martinez and Danilo D’Ambrosio, as per FcIN’s report.
