Inter will come up against a player they once tried to sign in Sunday’s Serie A match at home to Lazio, according to an Italian media report today.
Corriere dello Sport have revealed via their print edition that the Nerazzurri attempted to sign Lazio attacker Joaquin Correa way back in 2012, when he was coming through the ranks of Superliga Argentina club Estudiantes as a teenager.
The 26-year-old would stay with Estudiantes up until 2015 when he joined Sampdoria, where he spent just a single season before being snapped up by Sevilla.
After two years in Andalusia, he returned to Italy with Lazio, who he has helped to win the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiania once each in the time since.
The five-time Argentine national team representative, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, has made 22 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has scored a total of four goals and also provided as many assists for his teammates.
