Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella will both sign contract extensions with Inter soon, according to an Italian newspaper report today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, there has already been a principle agreement in place with Bastoni over a contract extension from 2023 to 2026 for a few weeks now.
Things have however been slowed down by the current corporate issues that Inter are facing, with the Nerazzurri currently suffering from a lack of liquidity which has forced them to tighten their purse strings.
As for Barella, the 24-year-old is currently under contract with the club until 2024 and Inter’s management, with the approval of coach Antonio Conte, are thinking of naming him the next captain of the club.
The report from the Milan-based publication goes on to explain that Barella’s new contract could well be done based on how he performs at this summer’s European Championships for the Italian national team.
Barella and Bastoni will both be key figures for Inter during Sunday’s Milan derby, where Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini will also be keeping his eye on Stefano Sensi and Roberto Gagliardini, should they feature at San Siro.
