Inter coach Antonio Conte could name an unchanged starting line-up for Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan, according to an Italian media report today.
Corriere dello Sport’s print edition explained that Arturo Vidal was the only player who could muscle his way into the XI named against Lazio last Sunday, although the Chilean midfielder is in a race against time to recover from a knee injury.
Vidal trained alone at Appiano Gentile yesterday during Inter’s day off, but in any case the report said it would be ‘difficult’ for Conte to prefer him to in-form Christian Eriksen.
The Dane impressed in the 3-1 victory over Simone Inzaghi’s side at San Siro and could be rewarded with his third consecutive start in all competitions.
Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic all went into last Sunday’s match against Lazio one booking away from suspension, but they all managed to avoid being booked, meaning they remain available against AC Milan.
Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi have now joined the above trio on being one yellow from a ban, meaning Inter will need to manage their suspensions carefully over the coming weeks.
