Massimo Moratti will not be returning to Inter as part of a supporters consortium, his sister Bedy confirmed today.
The Nerazzurri’s former owner and president was linked with becoming a minority shareholder again as part of Interspac, a VIP supporters group created by Italy’s former interim Prime Minister Carlo Cottarelli.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, however, Bedy ruled out any possibility of her brother getting involved in such an arrangement, just as Massimo himself did last week.
“I immediately exclude my brother’s name from the consortium, I do not know what they will do,” she explained to the Italian broadcaster earlier.
“Massimo is not someone who gets involved with consortiums.”
Bedy then proceeded to recall some Milan derby memories she has from when her family was involved at Inter, ahead of Sunday’s crunch match against AC Milan in Serie A.
“I remember all the derbies we won with affection,” Bedy explained.
“I remember a win under Jose Mourinho in the treble-winning year, when Julio Cesar saved a penalty from Ronaldinho.
“The Brazilian is one of the most respectable guys I’ve ever met in football.
“Among these I should also mention Luis Suarez, Mario Corso and Mauro Bellugi.
“I can’t name one above the others, they were great players and great people.
“I have wonderful memories, I have lived many moments with them.
“The derby is a match that always counts, even if AC Milan and Inter were last in the standings.
“Certainly this year is important, there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing for the Rossoneri and that is not great news for us.
“I have always had a great affection for him, even if the Nerazzurri fans will not like what I say.
“Now, unfortunately, he is on the other side.”
She then went on to name her favourite Inter goal: “I remember the goal by Dejan Stankovic from midfield (against Schalke), it was an extraordinary goal.”
Next, Bedy picked out a player from the current Inter squad who she thinks would fit perfectly into the Grande Inter side of the 1960s that won everything under Helenio Herrera.
“Romelu Lukaku is always fine, in fact, he’s fantastic.
“I don’t mind Nicolo Barella either, I think he is very good.”
Moratti also shared her views on current Inter boss Antonio Conte, who is half way through his second season in charge of the club.
“He’s a great coach, we’ll see what happens because I know very little about him.”
