Axel Bakayoko joined Red Star Belgrade permanently and not on loan as widely reported, an Italian media report claimed today.
Bakayoko joined the Serbian powerhouses in the recent January transfer window and it was reported as a loan deal, but FCInterNews.it have revealed Bakayoko did in fact join them on a permanent deal.
No money was exchanged between the clubs as part of the transfer, but as part of negotiations it was agreed that Inter would receive 30% of any future sale.
Bakayoko was a product of Inter’s youth academy but the French winger was never given an opportunity at first-team level and had spent the past few seasons out on loan, most recently having a spell at St Gallen in Switzerland.
The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Red Star Belgrade, who are coached by the Nerazzurri’s former midfielder Dejan Stankovic through to the end of the 2023-24 season.
Bakayoko made his debut for the club last week against AC Milan in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League last 32 tie.
