Having been rebuffed in their efforts to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, Barcelona will return to the Nerazzurri in a bid to purchase centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.
Martinez revealed that he had been close to making the move to the Camp Nou but had now closed the door on that proposal, instead opting to sign a contract extension with Inter.
However, Barcelona are determined to land another Inter man in the form of Bastoni, as reported in yesterday’s edition of Spanish newspaper Don Balon.
The Catalan club are seeking a long-term replacement for veteran defender Gerard Pique and have identified 21-year-old Italy international Bastoni as an ideal option.
However, with the former Atalanta defender contracted to Inter until 2023 and with the Nerazzurri keen to open up negotiations over an extension, Barcelona’s hopes of landing him are thought to be slim.
Indeed a move for Bastoni is believed to be even more difficult than the project to try to sign Martinez, with Inter determined to hold on to him.
