Inter’s former coach Alberto Zaccheroni has backed the Nerazzurri to take care of business at Parma tonight.
Antonio Conte’s side are in scintillating form, having won 14 of their last 17 league games since drawing at Atalanta in early November.
Inter have the chance to pull six points clear of AC Milan with victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, after the Rossoneri were held to a draw by Udinese last night.
“Inter have found the right balance lately, it is right that Conte does not change anything,” Zaccheroni explained in an interview Sky Sport Italia this afternoon.
“Even though they have three games in a week I don’t think it makes a difference.
“I also think today’s Parma can’t cause problems for Inter, because they’re on such a roll I don’t think they can lose points.”
Zaccheroni, who coached Inter in the latter part of the 2003-04 season, also sang the praises of Romelu Lukaku, who will be seeking a 25th goal of the season against Roberto D’Aversa’s side.
“Lukaku gets top marks for his performances this season,” he explained.
“The team relies on him, he is someone who knows how to play one-on-one and knows how to control the ball.”
Zaccheroni also had high praise for Nicolo Barella, widely regarded as one of Inter’s players of the season.
“Barella is one of the best Italian midfielders around,” Zaccheroni said.
“He is a warrior on the pitch who never has ups and downs, and he has a lot of fun.
“I don’t think there are other midfielders of this level right now.”
The former AC Milan and Juventus boss was less complimentary of Alexis Sanchez though, who is expected to start for Inter tonight.
“I don’t think we’ve seen the best Sanchez, he doesn’t make a difference like he did before,” Zaccheroni argued.
“The years go past for everyone.”
