Inter want right wing-back Achraf Hakimi to reject his call-up for Morocco over fears related to COVID-19, according to a pan-Arab media report today.

As per The New Arab, via FCInterNews.it, Inter are among a group of European clubs to have asked their Moroccan national team representatives to reject call-ups for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Mauritania and Burundi on March 27 and March 30.

Fiorentina have also urged Sofyan Amrabat to reject the call-up and both Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers have asked Hakim Ziyech and Romain Saiss to do the same.

In addition to fears over COVID-9, the report explains that part of the request to players to reject the call-ups is also to do with avoiding possible injury, especially so close to the end of the season.

Hakimi, who joined Inter this past summer from Real Madrid, has made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, in which he has scored six goals and also provided his teammates with six assists.
