Inter coach Antonio Conte could start a winning cycle at Inter, according to legendary Nerazzurri player Sandro Mazzola.

Conte is into his second year in charge of the club and after coming agonisingly close to winning the title this year, Conte has ensured to take things up a level this season and now Inter are sitting six points clear at the top of the standings with 12 games still to be played.

Monday’s win over Atalanta has taken the Nerazzurri into an extremely strong position to win the club’s first Scudetto since 2010.

“Conte could be a coach who starts a winning cycle, let’s see what happens,” Mazzola, who spent his entire playing career with Inter, confessed in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInter1908.it.

“I like it him and it is right and important that Lele Oriali is there with him.”

Mazzola then went on to stress the importance of Oriali’s presence and was able to praise him despite the two not having had the best of relationships together.

“There are former players abroad who help the coaches but it is more of a recent thing with us at Inter.

“Oriali and I had a so-so relationship (while we were players together), it was not exceptional for several reasons.

“It must have been because of our characters but in any case, he is an added value for the club today.”

Mazzola played for Inter between 1960 and 1977, the last seven years of which he was teammates with Oriali, who returned to Inter in the capacity of ‘team manager’ in July 2019.
