Barcelona could potentially make a move for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to a Spanish media report today.
As per Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga giants will be seeking new forwards following the departure of Luis Suarez last summer and the possible exit of Lionel Messi at the end of this season.
Koeman is said to love Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland but he has also been a big fan of Lukaku ever since the Belgian’s days as a ‘battering ram’ in the Premier League.
The report admitted, however, that Inter were unlikely to let Lukaku leave and that Barca’s financial problems would make it difficult for them to present an attractive offer.
Lukaku is little over 18 months into his spell with Inter following his club-record transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2019.
The 27-year-old, who is under contract with the Nerazzurri through to the end of the 2023-24 season, has 58 goals and 13 assists in 84 appearances across all competitions.
Lukaku has scored 24 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances this season and has played a key role in Inter sitting at the top of Serie A.
