Antonio Conte is worried about midfielder Stefano Sensi’s physical and mental fragility, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport‘s online edition, Sensi is the Inter coach’s greatest source of distress at the moment, having barely featured for the Nerazzurri all season.
Sensi has suffered countless physical setbacks since joining from Sassuolo in 2019, but he also appears to be stuck behind a psychological barrier now as well.
It is for these reasons, as per the same source, that Roberto Gagliardini is considered the favourite to replace Christian Eriksen in Inter’s starting XI at Torino on Sunday, should the Dane be unable to recover in time from a knee inflammation.
In addition to worrying Conte, the 25-year-old’s current state is said to also be of concern to Italy boss Roberto Mancini ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
Sensi has had some impressive performances during his 18 months or so with Inter, but appearances have become few and far between with his last start coming way back in September.
He has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has failed to score or provide any assists for Conte’s side.
