Inter’s owners Suning are confident they will not need to leave the club anytime soon, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri’s majority shareholders have never considered selling control of the club to another group and are looking forward to Inter’s financial situation improving.
Suning are convinced things will soon start getting better again on an economic standing for three reasons, the report revealed.
Firstly, they are hoping to reach an agreement with US investment group Fortress worth €250 million; secondly, the re-opening of stadiums will bring in around €60 million a year; and thirdly, Inter’s new main shirt sponsor will also see the club earn an extra €30-35 million.
Due to all these factors, the majority sale of the club has apparently never been contemplated by the Chinese company, who have owned Inter since the summer of 2016.
The report goes on to add that should the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title under Suning’s ownership, it would be the crowning achievement of the Chinese government’s plans to get involved in football over recent years.
Inter currently sit in first place with a nine-point advantage over second placed AC Milan with 11 games to go.
Saturday’s match against Sassuolo has been postponed by Milan’s local health authority after Inter reported four positive COVID-19 cases this week.
