Stefano Sensi has proved he can be a difference-maker for Inter when he is fit, according to the midfielder’s former Sassuolo coach Cristian Bucchi.
Since Sensi’s arrival at Inter in the summer of 2019 from the Neroverdi, he has had multiple injury issues which have kept him on the sidelines for large spells.
When available, Sensi is a player who has often impressed under Antonio Conte, but unfortunately he has made just one start in all competitions for the Nerazzurri so far this season (back in September).
Bucchi, who coached the 25-year-old in Reggio-Emilia, told TMW Radio on Thursday: “In addition to quality, Sensi has physical strength and great intelligence.
“His problem is too many injuries, especially for someone of his age.
“Sensi is 25 and unfortunately this year is not the first year that he has had certain problems.
“Not only does he not improve like this but physically he never reaches an ideal condition.
“When he was fit, he absolutely made the difference for Inter and almost overshadowed Nicolo Barella.
“When he went out the team, Barella started to do better.
“I am sorry for Sensi and hope he finds a better condition consistently.”
Sensi has been limited to just 329 minutes of action at Inter this season, which have been spread across 13 appearances in all competitions, failing to make any goal contributions.
Since joining Inter, Sensi, who is under contract with the club until 2024, has made 32 appearances, in which he has scored three goals and provided four assists for teammates.
He will have to wait until at least April 3 now to get back into Conte’s side, after Inter’s match at home to Sassuolo tomorrow was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
