Inter will not be allowed to have their next Serie A fixture at Bologna postponed despite their COVID-19 outbreak, according to a report in the Italian media.

Tomorrow’s matchday 27 match at home to Sassuolo was called off by Milan’s local health authority after four Nerazzurri players – Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – tested positive this week.

Corriere della Sera’s print edition said Inter’s game at Bologna on April 3 will not be postponed, however, regardless of how many players have the virus in two weeks’ time.

Several clubs were said to have complained about the decision to postpone the Sassuolo game within the Lega Serie A, as well as some national team coaches.

Inter are Serie A’s third-worst affected team in terms of COVID-19 players this season, the report continued, with this week’s flurry taking their total to 13.

Torino have suffered 19 positive cases in their squad while Genoa have had 18.

In addition to Inter’s four players, the club announced this afternoon that another member of its ‘team group’ had contracted the virus, which subsequent reports have suggested is a person in Antonio Conte’s backroom staff.
