Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia Likely To Replace Stefan De Vrij At Bologna, Italian Media Report

Stefan de Vrij is running out of time to recover for Inter’s next Serie A match at Bologna, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, De Vrij and Danilo D’Ambrosio remain positive for COVID-19 (as of last night) while Samir Handanovic and Matias Vecino are back in training after testing negative.

D’Ambrosio first reported symptoms related to the virus on March 14 while De Vrij didn’t test positive until four days later.

Nothing could be taken for granted ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, but if the Dutch international can’t recover in time then Andrea Ranocchia is ready to take his place at centre-back.

Inter’s players conclude their 14-day period of fiduciary isolation today, after Milan’s local health authority forced them all into quarantine after the club’s COVID-19 cases a fortnight ago.

Everybody will undergo more tests today and the hope is that nobody else in Antonio Conte’s squad will have contracted the virus.

Ranocchia has made five appearances in Serie A for Inter this season but could be in line for his sixth game this weekend.
