Lautaro Martinez is only getting better and better for Inter after scoring in Nerazzurri’s win over Sassuolo, according to a leading Italian journalist.
El Toro doubled Inter’s lead midway through the second half at San Siro after Romelu Lukaku had opened the scoring inside 10 minutes.
Inter are now 11 points clear of second-placed AC Milan with nine games left, following a tenth straight win in the league.
“Lautaro is constantly improving, he’s had an enormous evolution,” Matteo Marani told Sky Sport Italia said after Inter’s crucial victory against the Neroverdi.
“He’s playing with real quality and is ruthless in front of goal.
“Lautaro and Lukaku’s partnership is proving decisive for Inter’s league campaign, that’s their biggest strength along with the solidity of the defence.”
Inter are making the most of every chance they create at present, as Marani highlighted in an analysis of their pragmatic style of play.
“Inter keep winning by a one-goal margin, it’s become their trademark,” he argued.
“They’re clinical and with the great defenders they have, Inter know how to shut teams out.
“This is an unusual way for a team that’s top of the league to play, they’re setting up like a provincial side.
“They drop deep but they don’t concede chances and they know how to hit teams on the counterattack.
“In the games which are 50-50, Inter take 51 and leave 49 to their opponents.”
Marani also offered his views on what Inter need to do in terms of transfers heading into next season.
“We’ll need to understand what happens at club level (with Suning), but they will have to improve the squad,” he added.
“Something went wrong in the UEFA Champions League, but Conte learned from that exit and changed Inter’s season from that moment.”
Inter suffered an embarrassing group stage exit in the Champions League before Christmas, finishing bottom below Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Conte’s side have picked themselves back up since then though and are on course to secure the club’s first league title since 2010.
