Inter are working hard to sort new contracts for Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri viewed both as irreplaceable players for Antonio Conte heading into the future.

Bastoni’s contract extension is a priority for Inter because the defender is likely to receive interest in the summer from several top European clubs.

The defender’s current deal expires in 2023 and Inter are in a hurry to reach a new agreement to fend off his suitors.

Barella is also due for a new contract with the Nerazzurri, although there is less haste to sort the midfielder’s deal.

Inter have no doubt that they want to continue with the 24-year-old though, having already identified Barella as their next club captain whenever Samir Handanovic leaves.

In addition to their success with Inter, Barella and Bastoni are both set to become key figures in Roberto Mancini’s Italy team, starting with this summer’s European Championships.
